Impact of Weed Control by Hand Tools on Soil Erosion under a No-Tillage System Cultivation

چکیده
In conservation agriculture, the no-tillage cultivation system and retention of permanent vegetal cover are crucial to control soil erosion by water. This paper analyses maize under no-tillage, with particular reference effect produced on when weed is performed a hand tool (machete), which disturbs surface soil, behavior in these circumstances. The study area located humid tropical mountains northern Nicaragua (Peñas Blancas Massif Nature Reserve). results obtained show that 59.2% was affected appreciable levels sheet splash erosion, although relatively high (with average litter 33.9% 33.8%, respectively). use machetes for provoked considerable disturbance, explained rates observed. Moreover, this form management layer, making it less effective preventing erosion. remains loose surface, so an increase does not achieve proportionate reduction erosion; thus, even 80–100% cover, 42% cultivated continued present

Weed Control Using Conventional Tillage, Reduced Tillage, No-Tillage, and Cover Crops in Organic Soybean
Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...
متن کاملWeed Control for Conservation Tillage
Introduction Conservation tillage systems using sweep plows or field cultivators leave a high percentage of crop residues on the soil surface, which protects the soil from wind and water erosion (Johnson, 1950; Jones and Johnson, 1982; Allen and Fenster, 1986; Johnson et al., 1974). These systems have been successful in semiarid areas because meager rainfall after plowing does not allow weeds t...
متن کاملApplication of Polyacrylamide for Splash Erosion Control on Marl Soil
Splash erosion is recognized as the first stage in the process of erosion that results in bombardment of the soil's surface with rain drops. Two basic processes in soil erosion are the dispersement of soil particles by rain drops and the changes caused to the soil's structure, which are then moved by runoff. In this research, the effect of various polyacrylamide (PAM)values (0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 ...

The effect of tillage system and use of a paraplow on weed flora in a semiarid soil from central Spain
Field experiments were conducted to study weed population shifts in long-term conservation tillage systems. The objectives of this study were to determine weed community abundance, diversity and composition on conventional tillage (CT), minimum tillage (MT), no-tillage with paraplow (ZT) and no-tillage (NT) systems, and to identify species that are associated with specific tillage systems. The ...
